Last Thursday, trailer manufacturer Great Dane celebrated a significant milestone in the plant’s 14 year history.
Statesboro’s Great Dane facility produces refrigerated trailers, which can be used to transport fruits, vegetables, and dairy products.
“We are a provider for the transportation industry that allows owner operators or fleets to buy our trailers to transport goods,” said Plant Manager Ron Jones. “Whether it be a flatbed, a dry van, or refrigerated or truck body, that’s what we produce for the transportation industry.”
Great Dane’s 25,000th trailer is a 57-foot refrigerated van, and the unit has been in progress since last June.
“We have been in business 126 years, and as you can see, a lot of tried and tradition, also started about 50 miles down the road in Savannah in 1900 with the Savannah Blowpipe Company,” said Jones. “And again, just a lot of great employees and a lot of great products that’s provided to the community to get services where we need them at the right time.”
The Statesboro location is Great Dane’s newest plant, and the milestone was celebrated with cupcakes and drinks.
