Women’s Team

The Georgia Southern women’s basketball team beat Coastal Carolina, 65-62 on Saturday in Conway, S.C. The men’s team fell short against CCU, 86-70.

Freshman guard Alexis Brown led the Eagles with 15 points in the victory, with fellow freshman guard Nakol Franks contributing 14 points in just 16 minutes of playing time. Ced Gibson scored 22 for Coastal Carolina, but it was not enough to stop the Eagles from earning their fourth win in five games.

The women will take on the University of Texas-Arlington at home Thursday night. They will go on to face Texas State – also at Hanner – on Saturday at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.

Men’s Team

For the men, sophomore guard Ike Smith came to play, scoring 25 points including 4-7 from three-point range. However, the Chanticleers had more balanced contributions, with 16 points each from junior guard Jaylen Shaw and senior guard Colton Ray-St Cyr.

Coastal Carolina was able to get the home win, splitting the regular season match-ups with GS after the Eagles won in Hanner earlier this season.

The men’s team faced Appalachian State on Monday night. The Eagles will face Texas State at home on Saturday afternoon, with the broadcast airing on WSAV.
