Georgia Southern 2017 recruiting class #Savage17
February 1, 2017
After a disappointing season, Georgia Southern has pulled in yet another solid recruiting class. So far, GS has claimed the third best-recruiting class in the Sun Belt. The only teams ahead of the Eagles are Texas State and Troy.
GS is a program that likes to recruit players that work hard and will believe in the process, and this recruiting class has no shortage of those. Going into the 2017 season, GS will go back in as the underdogs. The Eagles finished with a 5-7 record, and there were obvious holes on the team that coaches needed to address.
For this class, GS is bringing in a total of 22 recruits. 18 of the 22 recruits signed today for National Signing Day. GS signed 11 three star prospects and 11 two star prospect. Experts rate recruits leaving High School and Junior College on a scale ranging from 2 stars to 5 stars based on the talent level of the specific recruits.
The Eagles brought on seven defensive linemen, two linebackers, three offensive linemen, three running backs, three defensive backs, two quarterbacks, and two athletes.
“We are excited about the class that we have. The so-called “experts” have us somewhere around second or third in the Sun Belt. For two straight years, we have been able to sign outstanding classes, and I’m sure that if you take the two years combined you would see us as a resounding number one or the leader in our conference,” head coach Tyson Summers said.
