GS Mens Soccer looks to win regular season sun belt
October 24, 2016
As the men’s soccer season begins to wind down, the Georgia Southern Eagles are in a prime position to win the Sun Belt regular season title.
Georgia Southern is 1-0-1 in conference play. Their win came on the road in a big 3-1 win over rival Georgia State and the tie came by the means of a 0-0 double overtime thriller at Coastal Carolina last Saturday night.
With the win against Hartwick, the Eagles launch themselves into a first place driver’s seat.
Georgia Southern has no conference losses while both first placed Appalachian State and second placed Coastal Carolina each have a loss.
The Eagles only have two more regular season conference games at 0-2 Howard and vs current conference leaders Appalachian State at Eagle Field on Nov. 5.
If the Eagles can clinch a number-one seed in the Sun Belt championship tournament, it will set them up nicely to make an appearance in the NCAA men’s soccer tournament.
