Georgia Southern had a disappointing game offensively losing at home to Appalachian State 34-10. GS started the game very strong, but as the game continued the momentum for the Eagles started slipping away. The Eagles only picked up 159 yards on offense with nearly 60 of those yards coming on their last drive.

After this loss on national television, there is only one question that needs to be asked. Where is the Eagles offense? GS totaled nine first downs and only 65 yards on the ground. It seemed as if after the first quarter nothing could go right for Southern. They turned the ball over three times and they all came at crucial times. App State quarterback Taylor Lamb had more passing yards (199) than the entire team for GS.

The Eagles had a 10-0 lead in the first quarter, but it was squandered after a few critical penalties and stale offense. Kevin Ellison and Seth Shuman took turns splitting reps for GS at Quarterback. Shuman is a Freshman and he is playing in place of the injured Favian Upshaw. Ellison completed three out of six passes for a total of 21 yards. Shuman completed nine of 23 passes for 73 yards along with two interceptions.

The defense for the Eagles did all they could to keep them in the game, but after a while they tired themselves out. The only touchdown of the for GS came off a fumble recovery by linebacker Ukeme Eligwe that was returned 90-yards for a touchdown. GS picked off Lamb twice during the game. The first interception set the Eagles up deep in App State territory, but the offense could not capitalize. It was a repetition of the same thing that has plagued GS all season long.

It doesn’t get any easier for the Eagles as they go into Oxford, Mississippi for their last non-conference game. The game against Ole Miss is scheduled for a noon kickoff on November 5t
