The Statesboro Kiwanis Club presents the 6th annual Statesboro Kiwanis Rodeo on April 15 and 16 at 7:30 pm and the Kiwanis Ogeechee Fair Ground.

As such a unique origin that no other professional sport can lay claim, the sport of rodeo first emerged from an industry where the daily routines and tasks of farm life formed a special bond between ranch hands and the animals with which they lived.

“Rodeo is often criticized to have characteristics of animal cruelty, but we are here to educate the community on the origin of rodeo, horseback riding and farm life,” Bryant Murphy, Kiwanis Rodeo event coordinator, said.

According to statesbororodeo.com, the rodeo features events such as calf scrambling, calf roping, steer wrestling, barrel racing and the infamous art of bull riding. In addition to the rodeo’s fun, food and games, Kiwanis is also offering guests the chance to meet the performing cowboys and cowgirls after the show.

Sponsored by organizations and businesses such as Anderson’s General Store, J.C. Lewis Ford and the Hedrick Rodeo Company, the event will provide merchandise, food and refreshments from vendors across the states.

Held at the same location the annual fair takes place, the Statesboro Kiwanis Rodeo welcomes guests of all ages.
