President Brooks Keel is the sole finalist chosen to serve as the next president of Georgia Regents University, as announced by Board of Regents Chair Neil Pruitt and University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby.

“It’s an honor to be considered for the role of President of Georgia Regents University,” Keel said in a press release. “I love the Eagle Nation and am proud of all we’ve accomplished together. If fortunate to be selected by the Board of Regents, this would be a unique opportunity to return to both of my alma maters that now comprise GRU.” 

The Board of Regents will take action on the final selection of the GSU president at a meeting at 11 a.m. on July 8.

Keel began his Georgia Southern University presidency in January 2010. He had previously served at Louisiana State University as vice chancellor for research and economic development and professor of biological sciences, according to the press release.
