Shoe fundraiser to help needy animals

Save The Animals Rescue Society (S.T.A.R.S) is currently holding a shoe drive throughout the remainder of the semester, to help benefit both the needy in developing nations, and the S.T.A.R.S. foundation itself

S.T.A.R.S. is an organization of individuals, and families that wish to help aid the animals of Georgia, and is run by a volunteer board of directors. They take in animals that are sick, up for euthanization, or are simply unable to be cared for, from animal shelters, and find them foster homes through its network of volunteers and foster families.

From February 23 through May 15, S.T.A.R.S. will be collecting gently worn shoes to donate to the less fortunate. The shoes will be cleaned, repaired or recycled, and then shipped to developing countries that need them. The goal of the fundraiser is 2500 pairs of shoes, for which S.T.A.R.S. will receive 40 cents per pound donated, which will go to rescuing, and caring for animals in throughout the state.

Shoes can be dropped off at the Petco on Henry Boulevard, Saturdays from 12 PM-3 PM, or, at any of the dedicated locations listed on their website at starsga.com.
