This day in Black History 2/5

Chris Rossmann

On this day in history, Henry “Hank” Aaron was born in Mobile, Alabama in 1934.

Aaron is most famous for hitting 755 home runs over the course of his career, an MLB record that stood for 33 years. Aaron managed to set the record amid death threats from fans against a black man breaking the most prestigious record in baseball.

He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame during his first year of eligibility in 1982.
