The Georgia Southern Eagles defeated the College of Charleston 162-126 and the Savannah College of Art and Design 181-94 at the RAC Aquatics Center on Saturday afternoon.

The meet got off to a great start with the Eagles winning the 200 medley relay. Christina Moran, Abbie Lavallin, Megan Heller and Elaina Lanson finished in first place with a time of 1:46.89. Teammates Lauren Campbell, Allyn Case, Rebecca Alves and Kaylyn Thomas finished in third place with a time of 1:50.31.

In the 200 free, it was a 1-2-3 sweep for the Eagles. Madison Lichtefeld won with a time of 1:55.56, Kylee Parsons finished second with a time 1:55.79 and Mae McWhorter was third with 1:58.80. Later, in the 1000 free, Parsons finished second in 10:27.19, and Amber Juncker was third with a time of 10:44.81.

Finishing first in the 100 back was Moran, who touched in 59.16. Teammates Sarah Schwartz was third with a time of 1:00.82. In the 100 breast, Lavallin set the pace for the race, winning in 1:06.44. Case finished the race in 1:08.01, securing a third-place finish. In the 200 fly, Campbell won with a time of 2:07.54.

Lanson secured her second and third wins of the afternoon in the 50 free, where she touched in at 23.49, and in the 100 free, where she touched in at 52.12. Moran and Campbell finished in first and second place in the 200 back with Moran finishing in 2:05.56 and Campbell in 2:09.68. Lichtefeld won the 200 breast with a time of 2:25.57, and teammate Case finished third with a time of 2:30.85.

The 500 free was, yet, another race dominated by the Eagles; they had a 1-2 finish with Parsons touching in at 5:10.21 and Juncker at 5:12.64. Heller claimed first place in the 100 fly with a time of 58.34, and teammate Anna Battistello finished third with a time of 59.36. In the 400 IM, the Eagles claimed a second 1-2-3 finish; Katlyn Jones won first with a time of 3:44.46, Campbell was second with 4:35.77, and Case was third 4:42.96.

In the 1-meter diving event, Erin Hembree triumphed with a score of 229.8, defeating her closest competition’s score of 217.5.

As always, Coach Nathan Kellog was proud of his team, but he did think that the girls lost a little bit of momentum lately.

“I feel like we still have the pedal to the medal this week, but sometimes coming back after Christmas to classes is an adjustment. This first week is hectic, and it showed today. Our times were really good, but I felt like we were a little slack energy wise,” Kellog said.

The Eagles will return to the RAC Aquatics Center on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1p.m. for their final home meet of the season, also senior honors day, against the University of North Florida.
