Hewitt suspended from GSU basketball

Georgia Southern men’s basketball head coach Charlton Young announced today via a news release that junior guard Jelani Hewitt has been suspended from the program for academic reasons.
Hewitt was the fourth Eagle to average in double-figure points at 10.5 per game and led GSU in three-point field goals with 57 as well as in three-point field goal percentage at 39.6 last season.
As a sophomore Hewitt played in all 30 games of the season, with 29 starts. He scored 216 total points and was ranked seventh in the Southern Conference. As a freshman Hewitt also played in all 32 games of the season, with 29 starts and played more than 19 minutes in every game.
The Eagles opened their season on the road at Valparaiso at 8:30 p.m. today.
