Bulloch County Sherriff’s Office deputies are searching for two black males who are suspected in an entering auto investigation, according to an alert sent by the Sherriff’s Office.

A vehicle in the Pinemount subdivision off highway 301 was entered this morning, and the owner called the Sherriff’s Office at 1:15 a.m. to report the crime, according to a press release by the Sherriff’s Department.

Three male suspects living in the same neighborhood were contacted and fled on foot. One of the individuals is in custody.

The names of the suspects are being withheld to preserve the integrity of the Marshalls’ case.

The Sherriff’s Office believes the suspects to be responsible for a number of entering auto cases, and that their capture will allow them to close the files on the vast majority of them, according to the release.

The Sherriff’s Office and Statesboro Police have been increasing patrols in the area over the past several months due to the increasing number of entering auto cases, and the extra patrols are what led to the discovery of the suspects that are currently being pursued, according to the release.

A search was launched for the other two suspects. The Statesboro Police Department, Georgia Southern University Office of Public Safety, Department of Corrections Canines, and the Brooklet Police Department volunteer pilot Brian Kent and GSP Aviation assets are assisted in the search, according to the release.

During the course of the search, a vehicle that was stolen by the suspects was recovered, according to the release.

Deputies determined that the suspects had escaped the search perimeter. The U.S. Marshalls Service’s Southeast Regional Task Force was contacted to assist with the search
