COVID-19 trends very closely resembling those of fall 2020
October 12, 2021
Georgia Southern saw a decrease in COVID-19 cases for the seventh week in a row, announcing Monday 16 positive COVID-19 cases in the ninth week.
Compared to last year’s trends, things are looking pretty similar, with GS reporting 19 positive cases this time last year. Case numbers stayed in the teens until after the holidays, jumping slightly after Thanksgiving break and going back over 100 in the spring.
“Recognizing that COVID-19 vaccines offer safe, effective protection, we continue to urge all students, faculty, staff and visitors to get vaccinated either on campus or with a local provider. Please note that Georgia Southern is now offering Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines. Additionally, everyone is encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while inside campus facilities,” according to GS’ weekly report.
One case was reported from employees. 11 cases were reported on Statesboro’s campus, four on Armstrong’s campus and one on Liberty’s campus.
