Sports Catch up: Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball Open Conference Play with 64-50 win over South Alabama

GS MBB are now 10-7 overall and 3-1 in the Sun Belt conference after facing multiple opponents in the last few weeks of 2022. 

GS started their winter break off with a 22-point win over Wofford followed by their 5th loss of the season to Morehouse in a close game of 74-71. 

  • The Eagles outscored Wofford 22-6 during the 6:36 of the first half to take a 49-29 cushion.
  • GS shot a season-high 48 percent from 3-point range (10 for 21).
  • In the Morehouse game, Andrei Savrasov collected his third double-double of the season, matching a career-high with 22 points and totaling a career-best 12 rebounds. 
  • Jalen Finch finished with 15 points and two assists
  • Tai Strickland scored 14. Kaden Archie posted 11 points, six rebounds and two steals.

The Eagles finished off their regular season games with a 58-54 loss to Ball State, they opened up their conference play with a 64-50 win over South Alabama 

  • Stats:  Kaden Archie collected 12 points and six rebounds. –

Andrei Savrasov scored nine points. 

– Kamari Brown finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.

-Carlos Curry added 11 boards. 

  •  GS outrebounded South Alabama 54-27 overall and 17-9 on the offensive glass. 
  •  GS was defeated in overtime by new Sun Belt opponent Old Dominion 81-75 this past Saturday. 

GS next two games will be on the road. GS plays Appalachian State Thursday at 6:30 p.m. and takes on James Madison Saturday at 7 p.m.
