Tornado Watch in effect for Bulloch County

Update: According to the Statesboro Fire Department, the Tornado Watch has been canceled by the Bulloch County EMA.
Bulloch and other surrounding counties are under a Tornado Watch from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In addition to Bulloch county, the following counties are also under a Tornado Watch:
- Bryan
- Chatham
- Effingham
- Evans
- Liberty
- Long
- Mcintosh
- Tattnall
According to the National Weather Service, this evening’s forecast for Bulloch County could consist of some thunderstorms that may be severe with damaging winds, large hail, tornados and West winds at 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
A Tornado Watch means that conditions are favorable and a tornado is possible, according to a University Safety Notification. At this time, a tornado has not been reported in the watch area.
According to a University Safety Notification, should a Tornado Warning be issued for any of the University’s campuses or surrounding locations, an EAGLE ALERT will be sent.
The Georgia Southern University Emergency Operations Plan states that in a event of a Tornado Watch, normal operations will continue. Employees should monitor weather conditions closely and be prepared to act without warning if necessary.
The University advises everyone to remain alert for approaching storms and monitor your phone and local media for additional weather alerts.
