Terren Ward Named Women’s Georgia College Player of The Year

 Georgia Southern junior Terren Ward was named GWCP of the year by The Atlanta Tip Off Club on March 24, She is the first student-athlete from GS Women’s basketball to be awarded by the organization.

 

 The Eagles finished their season after playing in the 13th Women’s basketball invitational which would be their first postseason appearance in almost 30 years 

  • Ward finished off her junior season scoring 573 points( the most for an Eagle since 1979-80), and averaging 18.5 points a game. 
  • Ward also averaged a team-best 8.2 rebounds per game and 2.0 steals per game. 
  • From GS Athletics: She earned first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors, the first Eagle to be named a first-team honoree since Georgia Southern joined the league in 2014, and Ward surpassed the 1,000 career point plateau on February 22 at South Alabama.

Ward joins Tookie Brown (2019) and Louis Graham (2008) as Georgia Southern student-athletes honored by the organization. Brown and Graham were named the Men’s Georgia College Player of the Year in their respective years.

  • Georgia Southern finished the year 21-10, the first 20-win season in 20 years for the Eagles. 
  • Ward will enter her senior season with the Eagles next year ranked 19th on the all-time scoring chart with 1,109 total points.
