There is a new gaming center coming to the Statesboro campus, which houses multiple types of games for students to enjoy.
Need To Know: On October 30th, there will be a grand opening for the Virtual Collaboration Center, but before that date students are free to preview the center on their own.
- This space is located right across from the University Bookstore, next to Centennial Place.
- Everything is free for students until October 30th when the PC gaming space becomes pay to play.
- The gaming room offers consoles to rent out, tabletop games, TVs to cast your mobile device or computer to, and PC gaming space with pre-installed games.
Prices: Student/Public
- 1 hour-$2.99/$4.99
- 2 Hours- $4.99/$9.99
- 3 Hours- $6.99/$14.99
- 4 Hours- $8.99/$19.99
- Day Pass $17.99/$24.99
- Monthly pass/Unlimited- $44.99/$49.99
Why it matters: The goal of the center is to get students connected over a shared interest.
- “After COVID there was a lot of disconnect. People weren’t meeting up as much, they weren’t talking together as much. They were just so isolated. So here at the collaboration center, it’s a big chance for them to come and work together, “ stated Andrew Mosley, who works for Eagle Card Services and provides assistance to the gaming room.
● This space also has the added purpose of fulfilling a need many students have. “We have a really large gaming community on campus. We do have one gaming club that’s about 300 members strong.” said April Burke, a spokesperson for the Division of Business and Finance.
