Hundreds of Georgia Southern students, faculty and staff united on the Armstrong campus for Celebrate Together, a popular annual event that is a reconfiguration of an Armstrong tradition.
Free food, games, live music, t-shirts and other activities such as bull riding, rock climbing and archery are some features of the occasion.
The event also gives student and local organizations the chance to educate students about what products or programs they have to offer.
Amaya Bacon, an Armstrong student who transferred from Statesboro, said that Celebrate Together brings a “similar” spirit to Armstrong that she often does not see here.
“There was so much to do, like randomly, all the time,” she said of the flagship campus. “I feel like we don’t really get that as much here.”
Dual-enrolled students Savannah Stephens, Alaina Macate and Georgia Grach took on their first Celebrate Together this year. They agreed the event provides “community” for the Armstrong campus.
“I think it’s a good way to get everybody out here together,” said Stephens. “Especially, like, Armstrong doesn’t have many students that live here.”
Celebrate Together was the grand finale of Armstrong’s Spirit Week, which hosted a variety of events including the Armstrong Campus Time Machine, Unity Fest, Line Up and Celebrate and more.
Tomorrow will completely wrap up Spirit Week with the Health Hut, Southern Adventures Hiking Trip and Haunted Housing.
