Located at 162 Georgia Ave., you will find Statesboro’s newest apartment complex, Charme. The complex opened this fall, welcoming students starting on August 1.

Charme has two buildings, six floors and over 600 beds. They also offer a range of amenities for residents, including an elevated pool, a café, study spaces, and more.

Included in those six floors are 231 first-year students, who are housed at Charme instead of staying in the University Housing dorms, according to Georgia Southern. The university rented out three floors for students to live in with adjusted rates, which can be found on the housing website.

Boaz Whealy is a senior at Georgia Southern, and he recently moved into his new apartment. He is located on the top floor in the “Elan” floor plan, which is a penthouse-style layout. The complex has various layouts for 1-bed, 2-bed, 3-bed and 4-bed apartments.

Charme is equipped with almost every amenity you could think of. On the first floor, you will find study spaces, a speakeasy, a fitness center, a mailroom and a café. On the second floor, you will find their pool deck. The pool deck is equipped with multiple cabanas, two grills, plenty of pool chairs and a hangout space. A big selling point for the pool is the poolside jumbotron. Residents are able to relax and watch sports, TV and more.

Every month or so, the staff brings in local artist and businesses to hold events for residents. Shortly after move-in, they held a “flower bar” event. Residents were able to build their own flower bouquets, and the event was held by a local flower shop.

Another feature that Charme introduced was the White Glove Move-in Service. As residents pulled into the complex, movers took their items and brought them to their rooms, so everything was ready for them by the time they got their keys.

These new apartments have caused a lot of conversation over the last year, and Whealy is excited that people get to see what it’s really like. “This has been a concept for so long, and I know it’s hard to look at models online and decide if they want to live here or not,” he explained. “Seeing the mockups turn into something exactly like it, even down to the art on the walls, is truly incredible.”
