Good morning, Eagles!

My name is Vanessa Alcala, and I am the Editor-in-Chief of the George-Anne Daily for the 2025-26 school year.

As the semester comes to a close, I wanted to showcase my staff’s best work from the semester by gathering statistics on the number of stories we published, the number of photos taken, and more. Looking back, I am so incredibly proud of my team and how far we have come since August.

I entered this year with a lot of uncertainty because our organization had grown significantly, and I had many new staff members join us. We immediately hit the ground running with our coverage on the Cambridge Bus Stop Relocation, and although it was tough, it truly set the tone for an amazing semester. Since then, I have watched my staff grow as writers, photographers, and leaders.

This semester, I was allowed to grow as a leader, a student, and a person. The support from my advisors and friends helped me tremendously. I cannot wait for next semester, and I hope to keep leading my staff to cover the stories that matter to Georgia Southern and the Statesboro community.
