It has been 25 years since film director Peter Jackson’s movie adaptation of the ‘Fellowship of the Ring,’ the first novel in J.R.R. Tolkien’s ‘The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy, first appeared on the big screen. To celebrate, theaters are currently showing each movie of the extended trilogy for devoted fans and newcomers to enjoy. Be warned, however, as the shortest movie in the bunch has a staggering runtime of over 3 hours and 45 minutes, so plan accordingly. This weekend is the last chance to experience this event, so don’t miss out if you are interested! a guaranteed bet to see every movie ‘somewhat’ locally is at the Pooler Royal Cinemas, where there is a showing of each movie once on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, respectively. The local AMC theater is also participating, but only showing the first movie, on Friday at 7 p.m.
