A new smoothie bar, called “Smoovie,” opened at the Recreation Activity Center (RAC) on Monday morning.
The stand offers smoothies and smoothie bowls. “We have six different flavors to choose from for both smoothies and smoothie bowls,” said Madison Crockett, the Smoovie supervisor. Crockett is a registered dietitian and the nutrition services manager for Eagle Dining.
Students who currently work for Dining Services will be trained to work at the new location.
Smoovie started as a pop-up last March for National Nutrition Month, but it’s now planning to be a permanent addition to the facility. They also offer oatmilk, soy milk, coconut milk, and 2% dairy milk for students to modify their order. You can also add protein powder or a caffeine boost to both the smoothies and the bowls for an extra charge.
For smoothie bowls, there are various toppings available for customers to choose from. “The bowls come with two toppings. We have granola, pecans, peanuts, almonds, chia seeds, coconut, peanut butter drizzle, and honey drizzle,” Crockett explained. Any additional toppings may be added for an extra cost.
Smoovie also sells grab-and-go items. They offer items such as bananas, yogurt, dark chocolate almonds, Uncrustables, snack bars and more.
The stand is located in the RAC lobby and is open from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday.
