Georgia Southern Student Government elections open on March 9, giving students the opportunity to vote for candidates who are emphasizing issues such as parking and transparency in university government.
We talked with Student Government Leadership Coordinator, Kelsi Simpson about what to expect before you vote.
“Students will get an individualized link on election day through your MyGeorgiaSouthern email,” Simpson said. “From there you will get a list of the candidates and what they are running for, voting is open through March 11th.”
Student government runs on engagement from the university, and the organization does work throughout campus to prioritize student concerns.
“SGA looks for feedback from students, all members of student government meet with an administrator to help find solutions to problems,” Simpson said. “Student government also helps organize overall student engagement, we just want to get the message out there that we are for students.”
A debate was held on Wednesday night where candidates were able to talk about their platform and their plans for the university, if elected.
A full breakdown of each candidate and their position can be found here.
