Softball loses to ULL
March 19, 2015
The Georgia Southern Eagles wrapped up their second series in the Sun Belt this afternoon against Louisiana Lafayette. The Eagles lost both games of the doubleheader, and lost the series 0-3.
Game 1 (1-12)
The Eagles once again got on the board early, scoring a run on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Kaitlyn Johnson.
But that was the last time an Eagle would cross home plate. The Cajuns scored 12 unanswered runs in the next four innings, and won by a final score of 12-1 in five innings.
Kierra Camp started the game for the Eagles and gave up 10 runs, eight of which were earned, on eight hits and three walks. Heather Felt relieved her in the third inning and gave up two runs on four hits and a walk.
Game 2 (L 0-9)
Brooke Red started for the Eagles, and appeared to be headed for a solid outing, as she tossed a scoreless first two innings.
But in the third, the Cajuns offense came to life on a home run, the first of four on the day, off the bat of Lexie Elkins. Red would give up two more home runs before being relieved by Marla Thompson, who gave up another home run to the second batter she faced.
The Eagles offense couldn’t get things going, and they collected just three hits on the day.
