Eagles upset Hokies 78-73

Upsetting Virginia Tech University, the Georgia Southern University’s men’s basketball team defeated the Hokies 78-73.
GSU never trailed during this game and had a lead as large as 16 points.
Two newcomers for GSU carried the team offensively during this game. Senior guard C.J. Reed led the Eagles with 22 points, his personal best since becoming an Eagle. He went 5 for 9 from behind the arc, which helped the Eagles in their best performance behind the arc making 11 three pointers. Freshman guard Cleon Roberts had his career best with a total of 20 points, also contributing behind the arc with four baskets.
VT’s senior guard Erick Green, the nation’s leading scorer, had 28 points in this game, but the Eagles had 16 offensive rebounds and out-rebounded the Hokies by three.
Overall, the Eagles performed with excellence having shot 43.9% from the field and also held VT to 39.7% from the field.
GSU will continue in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic against Bradley University on Monday night at 8 p.m. and can be heard on the Georgia Southern Radio Network.
