Restaurant Review: Chazitos

Chazitos is a family owned gem that serves authentic Latin food. It opened on Sept. 8, 2018.
The restaurant is tucked behind Three Tree Coffee Roasters and Big Boy Cookies. The location is amazing. There is an upstairs as well as a down stairs with a full bar service.
Chazitos has multiple seating options: high tops, a bar and a lounge area. The servers use electronic pads where your order and payment can be taken.
The restaurant started as a little food truck that participated in events in Pooler as well as Downtown Savannah.

Chaz Ortiz is the owner of Chazitos. His first restaurant location was in Pooler. It was such a hit that he decided to bring his works to Georgia Southern.

“I cannot wait for the people to try out my culture,” Ortiz said.

For Ortiz, being part of a large Puerto Rican family meant all events were based around food.
This food was incredible.

The restaurant has all sorts of authentic food items including empanadas, sweet and crunchy plantains and many pulled pork dishes. It has anything from street food to filling meals that will accompany your Jarritos drink.

The serving sizes were pretty large for the amount of money you are paying. Also, Georgia Southern students receive 10% off every meal.

The upstairs banquet room has so much potential to make Chazitos the new hang out.
There is a full bar upstairs along with a stage area for local musicians, bingo nights, trivia, socials and any activity you could think of.
I had the empanadas dessert and there was so much that I had to share with my friends.
The street food was made with fresh plantains as well as cut up avocado and their famous ropa viejaーa staple in their food truck.

Overall, Chazitos was very fun and flavorful. The restaurant was such a wonderful experience, and is a perfect place for conversations over dinner.
The atmosphere, along with the tasty food, friends and drinks, really puts you in a good mood. I would strongly recommend checking it out.

Chazitos is located at 441 S Main St #112, Statesboro, GA 30458.
