  • All of Statesboro looks forward to the first Friday of each month because it means that First Friday Downtown is back! March’s event consisted of a “doggie paw walk” around the dog park.

  • Attendees had the choice to enter to win a craft from local business, Southern Pottery, or enter their pup in a costume contest for a prize basket!

  • All breeds and ages of dogs were brought along with their owners to enjoy the dog park.

  • The event also marked the opening day for Statesboro’s newest addition: Dirty Paws Pet Wash! Owners can come give their pups a self-service bath when it’s open!

  • Some students brought their dogs, but others just tagged along to pet and watch the dogs play.

  • If you were hungry at the event, Mellow Mushroom set up a tent and were selling pizza by the slice!

  • Authentic Hispanic foods were also being sold at the next tent.

  • If you were craving seafood instead, Boss Seafood brought their truck out to the event. Even before it opened, the line was down the road!

  • For dessert, Johnny Boy Cookies had their food truck set up and ready for customers.

  • All the dogs ran around the park and made new puppy friends!

  • There was also plenty of vendors selling various items, such as crochet animals that would make perfect gifts!

  • A new vendor showed up to the paw walk and sold wax wraps! The owner explained all the many uses of this product to attendees who stopped by her tent.

  • You can’t have a pet-themed event without Fixing the Boro so they set up an information table and sold t-shirts and other merchandise.

  • Students wandered around the many tables talking to vendors and looking at items, including jewelry.

  • Information tables were set up all along the path, including non-profits, businesses, and awareness groups.

  • A donation table was set up to raise money for the Humane Society and Fixing the Boro.

  • Boro the Hatchet once again made an appearance to offer entertainment and fun for the whole family.

  • Parents dropped their kids off in the bouncy house while they watched and enjoyed the nice weather.

  • At the end of the event, a dog costume contest was held and the winners received gift baskets and a trophy!

  • Puppies and dogs alike walked around the event in various costumes, including cowboys and pirates!
