“To bagel or not to bagel?” My favorite age old question that one should ask themselves at least once a week in my, professional, opinion. Earlier this week I got to visit The Boro Bagel Company in Statesboro, just around seven minutes from campus.
The Boro Bagel company has a gorgeous hipster meets modern atmosphere that is so welcoming and calming to be in. Definitely a fantastic place to go if you need somewhere to work on schoolwork, or even if you just want to sit and enjoy an afternoon with friends.
As far as the food goes, the company claims that their vision is to bring a touch of New York to Statesboro with their bagels. According to the Statesboro Herald, who was able to do an interview with the owners of the Boro Bagel Company, “the bagels are made in New York and flown in frozen”, this way you, the customer, are tasting authentic New York made bagels.
While I was there I had the classic Boro Bagel sandwich that had your basic egg, bacon, and cream cheese in it. Upon ordering you’re given the choice of fries or fresh fruit as a side, what kind of bagel you’d like as your bread for the sandwich, and how you’d like your egg cooked, fried or scrambled. I got the cinnamon raisin bagel, with a fried egg and fresh fruit as my side.
One word… Delicious. The fruit was fantastic, definitely fresher than most fruit offered at other restaurants I’ve been to, the egg was perfect on my sandwich, and just the sandwich as a whole was a combination of things I’d never had before but was fantastic.
You don’t just have to take my word for it though, you can take my new friend/fellow customer David’s too,“I had a great experience at the Boro Bagel Company. The inside was very clean and warm, and the staff was very friendly as well. The food too was amazing.”
Now that you have heard how amazing it is, from not just one, but two people, I suggest you don’t walk, but run, to try the New York bagels offered at the Boro Bagel Company. You will not regret it. Their hours are from 7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday – Fridays, and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. Enjoy!
