How to Plan a Spring Break Trip on a Budget

With spring break just around the corner, here are a few ways to plan a budget-friendly trip.

  1. Find a few friends who will want to come with you. No matter where you go, the more people you go with, the less each person will have to pay for the trip. A lot of places offer groups a discounted rate on their stay.
  2. Find a place that is not too far from Statesboro; the closer it is, the less it will cost to get there. Tybee Island is approximately 1 ½ hours away, Hilton Head Island is approximately 1 ½ hours away, etc.
  3. Determine how long you want to stay. Spring break is a full week long, but that does not mean you have to plan a trip for the whole duration. Most trips average 3 to 4 days
  4. Finding a nice place does not always mean it has to be expensive. Try to find a hotel or Airbnb a few miles away from your preferred destination to keep costs lower. The closer you are to the city, the more expensive the places to stay will be.

Paying for only the necessities, such as food, housing, transportation, and simple activities, can help keep costs low.

  • “For me personally, I always have to buy new clothes for a trip, but for spring break, I feel like it’s not necessary because you could put that money towards a house where you’re staying, or dinner,” said senior Makiya Mayes.

As college students, being on a budget is something we’re all familiar with, and having a good time does not mean breaking the bank.
