National Beer Day is April 7, and is it a coincidence that National Beer Day is on a Friday? Doubtful. It falls on a day where it can be celebrated fully with no thoughts of tomorrow. In order to bask in a day to celebrate beer, we must be educated on the origins of it. According to Livescience, the invention of beer occurred around “10,000 B.C.E. in Mesopotamia, the region of southwest Asia currently occupied by Iraq.” Supposedly, a farmer tasted water that had bread sitting in it for a day or two, and beer was born. Why would someone drink water with soggy old bread in it, we will never know. However, beer did come out of it, so not many people are upset by this.

According to The Huffington Post, the best-selling domestic beer is Bud Light. There have been over 200,000,000 cases of it sold. The average price of Bud Light is $20.26, and total sales of it exceed $5,000,000,000. Budweiser, Coors Light, Miller Light, and Natural Light follow Bud Light in popularity. Our survey also found that 47.37% of our participants preferred beer over wine and liquor.
