Holi celebration covers students in color
March 11, 2015
On Wednesday afternoon, Georgia Southern University celebrated Holi for the first time in front of the University Store and the Dining Commons.
Holi is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colors or the festival of love, typically celebrated by Hindus and Sikhs which celebrates life and community as participants hug each other while dancing to traditional music.
Students, teachers and local residents watched as five students performed traditional Indian dances then taught the crowd several common dance moves. Then students finished the celebration by filling the air with powdered paint to celebrate the beginning of spring.
