App Update

Ian Leonard

By now, I’m sure many of you have at least heard of the popular new app Sneek. For those of you who are still unfamiliar however, Sneek is an anonymous photo and video sharing application, and much like Yik Yak, it pools submissions from users near each other in an area. However, Sneek also has a ‘Discover’ tab where you can see popular Sneeks from other areas. Sneek’s parent company uMentioned Inc. claims that Sneek is intended to be used as “a fast, fun way to share funny photos and videos of friends with your campus.” Despite this, many users have begun posting racy pictures and videos of what could be considered indecent material. While this app was intended for college students, many have questioned the morality of allowing such activity to continue, especially when the person in the picture or video doesn’t seem to be aware they’re being filmed. Ultimately, whether you support that is up to you, but if you’re looking for a fun new social app, Sneek may be for you.
