The Herty Advanced Materials Development Center (AMDC) has been named as a founding member of a new national research institute being created under the National Network for Manufacturing Innovation.

The Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation was selected to develop better composite materials to be used in the Automotive, wind turbine and compressed gas storage industries.

“Being a partner in this national network allows us to collaborate with other leading technology providers to solve real world problems and to create the manufacturing platforms of the future,” president and CEO of Herty AMDC, Alexander A. Koukoulas said.

Inclusion in the new institute is an opportunity for Georgia Southern to showcase what Herty AMDC is capable of providing for the development of new materials as well as what Georgia as a state can provide for the nation.
