Georgia Southern saw over a 50% drop in COVID-19 cases this week, announcing today 123 positive COVID-19 cases going into the fifth week of class.

This report shows us a 69% decrease in total since the first week of the semester being 408 positive cases.

GS declined almost 50% last week and has now declined 54% more since then.

Bulloch County has 58.1 per 100K daily new cases, according to CovidActNow which was last updated February 7.

“Although vaccines remain effective at preventing severe disease, the CDC emphasizes everyone 18 years of age and older should receive a booster dose based on decreasing protection over time and the recent emergence of the Omicron variant,” read GS’ weekly report. “We continue to urge all students, faculty, staff and visitors to get vaccinated either on campus or with a local provider. Additionally, everyone is encouraged to wear a mask or face covering while inside campus facilities.”

25 cases were reported from employees while the other 98 were students. 90 cases were reported on Statesboro’s campus, 30 on Armstrong’s campus and three on Liberty’s campus.
