At first glance, Statesboro may seem like just an average college town—dorms, apartments, classrooms, the gym and maybe a Starbucks or two. But, there is so much more to this beautiful little city. If you’re new to Georgia Southern and want to explore, here’s the perfect start for you! This is broken down into three groups: Food & Drink, Coffee & Tea and Retail!
Food & Drink
Del Sur Taqueria: This is the perfect Tex-Mex spot to hang out with your friends and family and grab a quick bite. There’s usually a longer wait on the weekends, but be sure to check out their cornhole boards and outdoor bar while you wait!
Gnats Landing: With something on the menu for everyone, Gnats is always a top choice when it comes to places to eat. They also host Bingo, Trivia and more games throughout the week!
Tandoor & Tap: Craving some good, authentic Indian food? If so, Tandoor & Tap is perfect for you. They offer good food, drinks and vibes right in the heart of Downtown Statesboro.
Dolan’s Barbeque: If you want a classic BBQ meal, be sure to check out Dolan’s! It’s a small spot located in the Downtown area with the best menu options.
Bites in the Boro: This one is a favorite among students and families, with a wide variety of menu options. In my opinion, it’s super underrated, so definitely check them out!
Coffee & Tea
Three Tree Coffee Roasters: Being one of the most popular coffee shops in town, Three Tree has multiple locations throughout Statesboro, one of them being in the Henderson Library!
Cool Beanz Espresso Bar: This shop has a chill, cozy vibe with great coffee and other drinks, making it a popular hangout/meeting spot in town.
Two Story Books and Coffeehouse: Presenting a homey, relaxing vibe, this is a great spot to grab a cup of coffee, hang out and browse their used bookstore!
Soul Statesboro: This spot recently opened and has had lots of success among locals and students. They have a huge menu with protein shakes, meal replacements and loaded teas. If coffee isn’t your vibe, then this is the place for you!
Daily Grind: This is another great hangout/study spot among students, and it has a great variety of pastries and drinks. It’s also located in the downtown area.
Retail
Southern Exchange: This is the perfect place to get Georgia Southern gear for the whole family. It’s located right across from the Dining Commons, and it’s a short walk away from Centennial Place, Eagle Village, Charme and more!
Statesboro Mall: With over 20 stores, the Statesboro Mall is a good place to shop and it’s only a five-minute drive from campus.
Cheeky Bliss: This is a local boutique located near the Statesboro Mall, offering women’s clothes and accessories. They also have a wide selection of sorority gear.
Uptown Cheapskate: This second-hand shop opened earlier this year, offering women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, accessories and more. Along with buying clothes, you can bring in gently used items to sell to them, and you can receive cash or store credit.
Galactic Comics & Games: Located in the heart of downtown, you will find this spot. They sell comics, board games, novelties and more. They also host events in their shop, bringing in people from all over the town.
In all, there is so much more to Statesboro that students may not see. During your time at Georgia Southern, be sure to get out, drive around and explore all that the city has to offer.
