Students stopped by the Russell Union Rotunda yesterday from 1-3 p.m. for the “Tropical Tease” event, hosted by the University Programming Board (UPB).
The event was designed to give students a taste of homecoming, which will be held from October 13-18 on the Statesboro campus. UPB staff had decorations, prizes, mocktails and more for students to enjoy.
As students came to the Rotunda, they checked in by scanning their digital Eagle ID. Afterwards, they worked through the tables with a chance to spin the wheel to win UPB gear, and then they were offered free mocktails, made by the UPB staff.
This was also the first time they showcased the full homecoming week schedule of events, which can be seen in the image above.
Ariel Anderson, UPB member, talked about the importance of this event and why students should look forward to homecoming week. “Students should be excited for homecoming week because it gives students a reason to get out of their apartment, it gives them a chance to meet new people, and it gives them a chance to really see what Georgia Southern is about and experience many events on campus,” she said.
Tropical Tease is just one of many programming events UPB holds throughout the semester, and they are all made to get students more involved on campus. With each event, UPB holds to their motto: “Bringing campus to life. Connecting every eagle.” For more information on their upcoming events, check out their Instagram page @gsupb.
