East Georgia Regional Medical Center discharges COVID-19 patient

STATESBORO – The East Georgia Regional Medical Center discharged the first patient admitted to the hospital with a confirmed case of COVID-19 today, according to a Facebook post by the hospital.

The medical center posted a video on their Facebook page showing hospital staff cheering as the patient leaves the building in a wheelchair.

“The first patient to be admitted to East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro with a confirmed case of the Coronavirus, COVID-19, was discharged on April 7th – a cause for everyone to celebrate!” reads the Facebook post.

According to the April 7 COVID-19 Daily Status Report from the Georgia Department of Public Health, there have been 10 cases of the virus among Bulloch County residents. For more about the coronavirus in Georgia, click here.
