Eagles grab two wins

On a road trip to Knoxville, Tenn. the Georgia Southern University softball team handed a 9-0 beat down

to Campbell University and a 3-2 win over Holy Cross College.

Junior pitcher Brooke Red was on her game against Campbell. Red threw 10 strikeouts and allowed only

one hit. The Eagles were assisted at bat by home runs from freshman infielder Emily Snider and junior

outfielder Kaitlyn Johnson. Snider, Johnson, and junior centerfielder Breanna McClendon all had two

RBIs each.

Senior shortstop Kourtny Thomas opened the second game against Holy Cross with a two-run homer,

scoring senior Shelby Morrill. Thomas swung for the fences again in the fifth inning to give the Eagles the

lead and the final score of the nights. Senior pitcher Sarah Purvis threw five innings and allowed four

hits and nine strikeouts.

The Eagles open tomorrow against Western Kentucky University at 9 a.m., followed by No. 3 University

of Tennessee at 2 p.m.
