Hess soars to Houston

Former Georgia Southern University baseball player Justin Hess reached an agreement to join the Houston Astros on July 28.

Hess signed a free agent contract with the Astros after finishing up summer school at GSU to earn his degree.

Hess went 5-6 this past season with an ERA of 3.69 and four saves through 23 games, 13 of which Hess started.

Hess finished his career at GSU with a 14-12 record to go along with a 4.34 ERA. In over 71 games, Hess allowed less than 100 walks while striking out 277 batters.
