Despite a fast start by the Georgia Southern University women’s basketball team, the Eagles fell short to the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga 67-50.

Senior Meredyth Frye started off the night with a jumper to put the Eagles on the scoreboard first. She led the team with 12 points, six of which came behind the three point line.

With the game tied at 24, Chattanooga went on a 10-0 run to end the first half. GSU went into the locker room down 34-24.

GSU would cut the 10 point lead down to six, but that was as close as they would get. Chattanooga junior forward Ashlen Dewart dominated the post with 24 points and 13 rebounds.

With this loss, GSU fell to 5-20 on the season and 4-12 in the Southern Conference.

GSU will take on Wofford College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
