The Georgia Southern women’s soccer team opens conference play on the road on Friday against Coastal Carolina.

The Chanticleers hold a 2-4-1 record but have not faced any conference opponents. They are led by the 2018 Sun Belt Newcomer of the Year senior forward Hannah Miller. She has accumulated 31 shots on goal and seen action in every game.

Junior midfielder Sunny Sigurvinsdottir has notched four goals for Carolina and has received Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week for her efforts. Junior goalkeeper Rylee Atteberry has had 28 saves in her 600 minutes of work.

Statistically, the team has allowed their opponents to outscore them in the second period, 18-10.

The 3-4 GS team has not won a game since Sept. 1, but looks to break this streak with the help of senior forward Frida Brattum, who leads the offense with five goals and nine shots on goal.

Freshman midfielder Karin Winka has made a strong freshman campaign seeing six starts and attempting eight shots.

Senior goalkeeper Lauren Karinshak has made 21 saves this season, with help from sophomore Olivia Elofsson.

GS has been outshot 96-53 so far this season, but averages about 8 shots per game.

The game will begin at 6 p.m. at the CCU Soccer Stadium.
