The Georgia Southern baseball team will have their now home-opener Friday as they take on West Virginia in a weekend-long series.

The Eagles were originally supposed to have their home-opener against Georgia Tech this past Tuesday but the game had to be postponed due to rainy conditions.

With the unplayed game the Eagles remain to only have three games under their belt for the season so far, those three games being their three-game series against Auburn. GS came close to stealing the series from the then-ranked No. 15 (now No. 22) Tigers but fell short in game three as they walked away 1-2.

As a team the Eagles show a batting average of 0.238 on the season so far while sophomore outfielder Noah Searcy leads with his 0.400 batting average with one run and two hits off his five at-bats.

The WV Mountaineers currently look at a 2-2 season after going 1-2 at their weekend at the Atlanta Challenge then following taking a win over Canisius at their home-opener.

As a team the Mountaineers show a 0.201 batting average while showing 20 runs, 27 hits and three home runs. Austin Davis has shown to be a team leader for WV while having a 0.400 batting average for his five at-bats, notching two runs and two hits.

The three-game series will kick off Friday at 6:30 p.m. at J.I. Clements Stadium. The first match will be streamed on both ESPN+ and the Georgia Southern Sports Network while the following two will be streamed on True Blue TV and the Georgia Southern Sports Network. The following weekend games will take place Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
