The University Programming Board (UPB) hosted The Area 1906 Tailgate on Thursday, Oct.28 in the Student Union Ballroom on the Armstrong campus. Event activities included a giant game of Connect Four, Alien Invasion and a UFO competition.

Naked Dog Food Truck catered the event with hot dog, vegan dog and burger meal trays. UPB also offered cupcakes, soda and water with the trays. The Dean of Students office made two flavors of mocktail, Pineapple Cobbler and Green Alien, that students could try, and they put the recipe for each of them on the table with the drinks.

Team “Mr. World Wide” won the UFO competition. UPB also announced the winners of the Banner, Sidewalk Chalk and Door Decorating competitions. Sigma-Sigma won the Banner competition. Baptist Collegiate Ministries (BCM) won the sidewalk chalk competition, but no one attended to receive their award. The Dean of Students won the Door Decorating competition, but no one claimed their award.

The highlight of the night was when UPB announced the homecoming duchess and the Armstrong homecoming candidate. Armstrong’s homecoming queen candidate, Angela Gracia, could not make it. Icis Sutton, Erin Fay and Jada Watkins were the candidates for homecoming duchess. Sutton won the title of homecoming duchess, so Paul Bradley, Director of the Office of Student Activities, presented her with a tiara, sash and roses.
