THURS., JAN. 18- Reporter Christina Charles attended a candlelight vigil for Manuel Tortuguita Terán, an Atlanta-based activist shot by police in Weelaunee Forest. The remembrance took place at Forsyth Park and was hosted by activist group Savannah Against Cop City and Savannah’s Defend the Forest chapter. For the safety of the protestors, no face photos have been included.

Jan. 18 marks 1 year since environmental activist and Cop City Protester Tortuguita Terán was shot 57 times by police while occupying Atlanta’s Weelaunee Forest.
The event was hosted by Savannah’s Defend the Forest chapter @savforestdefense
The community was invited to draw or write signs and chalking in commemoration of Tortuguita’s life.
