Students packed the Jack and Ruth Ann Hill Convocation Center, better known as “The Hill,” for the Doo Dah Dance & Step Show on Oct. 16. Sororities, fraternities, student dance crews, and members of the Homecoming Court lit up the stage with performances that had the crowd on its feet.
The arena glowed with neon sticks and pulsed with music, laughter, and school spirit. It wasn’t just a competition; it was a celebration of creativity, culture, and community at Georgia Southern.
Each sorority and dance team delivered a dance routine inspired by beach or island life. Audiences saw flight attendants transforming the stage into a tropical getaway, Love Island–style contestants stirring up villa drama, mysterious sirens from the sea, and more.
The Doo Dah Dance and Step Show was split into three categories: Doo Dah, Dance, and Step.
In the Dance category, first place was a tie between K-pop Culture & Appreciation and Dyversion Dance Team.
Tyra McClendon, one of the team captains of K-pop Culture & Appreciation, said, “Winning first place this year meant a lot to me and the rest of the dance team. It really shows that all of our hard work paid off in the end. I feel like some people look down on us, whether it’s because they don’t like K-pop, the dance style, or its traditions. So winning first place proved that no matter our style or the unique story we’re trying to tell, people enjoyed our performance.”
In Step, first place went to Phi Beta Sigma and Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.
And in Doo Dah, first place was awarded to Alpha Omicron Pi.
Adriana Rafanelli and Emma Kelly said, “After coming in second two years in a row, we had the mentality that the third time’s the charm. We’re honestly shocked, we’ve worked so hard, and as a group we really came together and put in the work these last couple of months.”

Doodah has always been my favorite, most anticipated event of the year! Being dance chair for AOII is something I take pride in and love. I’m so glad to have been able to see all the hard work and determination my team put in, but also the other organizations. UPB always does a fabulous job promoting and encouraging each organization participating.
