Steven Fisk, junior business major, was recently named the Sun Belt Men’s Golfer of the Week.  Fisk showed out with two outstanding performances over the past two weeks, winning both the Fighting Irish Classic and the Autotrader Collegiate Classic.

At the Fighting Irish Classic at Notre Dame, Fisk tied for first place, shooting a 204 over 54 holes, averaging an impressive 66.83 individual scoring average.  This performance helped GS to an overall 2nd place finish in the tournament.

The next week, Fisk show a career-low 65 and an overall 197 over 54 holes to take the title in the Autotrader Collegiate Classic at Georgia State University.  This outstanding performance led to broken records, setting a new tournament record as well as the new GS school record, breaking the individual record by six strokes.

Fisk won the tournament as an individual, finishing at 19-under to win by 12 strokes, and also led GS to the team title.

The Eagles, led by Fisk, are on a roll.  The performances over the past two weeks have improved Fisk’s national ranking, according to Golfstat, to seventh in the country.

Also, the first place finish at the Autotrader Collegiate Classic and the second place finish at the Fighting Irish Classic boosted GS’ national ranking to thirty-ninth in the nation, being placed in Others Receiving Votes category in the GCAA Coaches Poll.  GS next match will take place Oct. 29 through Oct. 31 at the Princeville Makai Invitational at the University of Hawaii.
