STATESBORO, Ga. — Georgia Southern baseball (0-8) fell 7-5 to the Kennesaw State Owls baseball (4-3) on Feb. 24 at J.I. Clements Stadium despite a late rally.
Kennesaw State built an early lead in the second inning when Charlie Jones hit a three-run home run, followed by a solo shot from James McGee to make it 4-0. The Owls extended the margin to 6-0 in the third on a two-RBI single by Wesley Alig, and McGee added his second homer of the night in the sixth.
Georgia Southern responded in the fourth as Bryson Trammell reached on an error to score a run, and Nico Senese delivered an RBI double. The Eagles added a sacrifice fly from Max Prozny in the eighth before solo home runs by Sean White and Trammell in the ninth, cutting the deficit to two.
Georgia Southern returns to action this weekend in Statesboro against the USC Upstate Spartans baseball. Game 1 of the series is set for Feb. 27 at 6:30 PM and will be streamed on ESPN+.
