Carson Shaver is the newly elected Student Government Association (SGA) President at Georgia Southern. We sat down with him to talk about his position and what he plans to do in the upcoming school year.
SGA plans to tackle problems students are facing on campus by working with the administration to solve them.
“I’m advocating for issues that students have expressed concern over,” Shaver said. “Parking and issues over academic advising are two things I want to help fix.”
Helping students with issues on campus is one of the reasons why Shaver decided to run for student government.
“I saw a gap between students and student government,” Shaver said. “We represent students, we are active and there for students for any issues they may have.”
We asked Shaver what students can expect from SGA in the upcoming school year.
“Students can expect persistence in advocating for issues,” Shaver said. “We want to give students updates on what we are doing as a governing body of the university and make the student government known on campus.”
