Antwione Williams to the Next Level

Chris Smith

Former Georgia Southern linebacker Antwione Williams was selected to play in the NFL. He was drafted in the fifth round with the No. 169 overall pick by the Detroit Lions.

Williams is the fourth player in the last four years from GS to go on and play Football professionally.

Williams finished the 2015-16 football season with 110 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, four sacks and four forced fumbles. Williams was an All-Sun Belt Conference honorable mention in 2015.

Williams was able to get his first taste of NFL action this past Friday in the Detroit Lions first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was able to finish his first game with a total of five tackles. Nothing is for sure in the NFL, but Williams has a great chance to earn a big role on the Lions defense this upcoming season.
