The Georgia Southern Eagles Softball team split a doubleheader against the Jacksonville Dolphins yesterday, losing the first game 5-8 and winning the second game 4-0.

Game 1

The Dolphins took a 7-0 lead into the fifth inning, when Lexi Allen gave the Eagles their first runs on a two-run home run. The Dolphins added one run in the sixth to give them an 8-2 lead headed to the top of the seventh.

In the seventh, the Eagles capitalized on two Dolphin errors and made the final score 8-5.

Heather Felt took the loss after giving up seven runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out three batters. Marla Thompson relieved her in the third inning pitched the final two innings, giving up one run and striking out two.

Game 2

Kierra Camp delivered another great outing on the mound in the nightcap of the doubleheader. She threw a complete game shutout, striking out three batters and allowing just four hits. Camp has been on a roll lately, and she gave the Eagles another good outing today.

The Dolphins put a runner on third in the seventh, but Camp locked in and struck out a Dolphin pinch hitter to end the game.

Lexi Allen, Morgan Robinson and Emily Snider all collected two hits on the night, and the Eagle offense stroked nine hits off the Dolphins pitching.

The Eagles will return to action this weekend when they travel to Mobile to take on South Alabama.
